EUAMI - European Values and Migration
EUAMI is a project made up of a network of 6 educational entities composed by one higher education institution from Italy (SPGI Department, University of Padova) and the participation of 5 high schools from Bulgaria (Emilian Stanev SU), Italy (Istituto E. Fermi and Canossa Campus), Poland (Zespół Szkół Administracyjno-Ekonomicznych), and Spain (Sant Josep Obrer).
The aim of EUAMI is to allow teachers and trainers to engage in curricular and extracurricular activities that allow for their own professional development and expansion regarding the European dimension of teaching at schools. More precisely, it seeks to improve the understanding among professors and teachers of the functioning and institutions of the European Union, tackling specifically migration issue, while promoting the implementation and exchange of new teaching methodologies and information between teachers regarding EU matters.
The project will include the discussion of topics such as European values, migration and human rights. The project identifies migration as a key topic that will mould EU identity in the upcoming years, while challenging the status quo and the internal political dynamics. The activities under the EUAMI focus on achieving the following main outcomes for professors, teachers and students. Firstly, to ensure that the academic staff acquires better methodologies to teach EU matters, secondly, to enable teachers to introduce more EU studies in their syllabus, thirdly, to contribute to the professional development and competitive skills acquisition by teachers, and finally, to guarantee that students receive a better understanding of the EU.
All of this under an organised dialogue and extended communication between the participating educational institutions. The trainers, teachers, and students involved in the project come from various EU member states, creating a multicultural and multilingual European classroom environment. The main goal of the activities is to analyse both the internal and external aspects of the EU. This includes examining the roots, functioning, competences, democratic values, and essence of the EU, as well as the impact and actions of the EU in various economic, social, and policy areas globally.
