Discovering the Historical Archives of the European Union: A Study Tour

21.05.2026

This study tour aims to introduce students to the historical and documentary heritage preserved at the Historical Archives of the European Union in Florence.

The archives' staff will illustrate the types of sources held, the archival collections preserved, and the research opportunities — primarily for thesis purposes — available at the EU archives.

Students will have access to a selection of original sources on topics chosen by the archive staff and the Scientific coordinator. These sources will be read, analysed and discussed as a group, in order to learn the basic methodologies of archival research. The activities of analysis, work and discussion of the sources will take place over two days (21-22 May 2026).

Participating students will be entitled to reimbursement of accommodation expenses (one night in a hotel), meals and travel, up to a maximum of €325 per participating student.

  • TARGET AUDIENCE: 15 students enrolled in the Master's degree programmes RID, EGOS and HRG. Should the number of applicants exceed 15, participants will be selected based on registration order and equal distribution among the three Master's programmes.
  • REGISTRATION: by 10 May 2026, via Moodle at: https://sesp.elearning.unipd.it/course/view.php?id=1894

Scientific Coordinator: Benedetto Zaccaria, University of Padova.
