Memory and Media in the Western Balkans: Reporting & Storytelling
In the first semester (Academic Year 2024-25) a group of students enrolled in the MA Relazioni internazionali e diplomazia (RID), Human Rights and Multilevel Governance (HRG) and European and Global Studies attended the laboratory Memory and Media in the Western Balkans: Reporting & Storytelling (Scientific Coordinator: Prof. Benedetto Zaccaria).
The laboratory was held in collaboration with the think-thank Osservatorio Balcani Caucaso Transeuropa (OBCT) at the Centro per la Cooperazione Internazionale (CCI) in Trento (Italy).
The Laboratory was focused on memory and media, as two of the most relevant issues in the current analysis of politics and society in Southeast Europe.
At the end of the Laboratory the students learned how to write a scientific report and how to turn this report into a videoclip. Three videos have been produced, which you can find available on the SPGI Department YouTube channel:
- Challenging the dominant memory in Bosnia and Herzegovina, written and produced by: Francesco Berto, Irene Borella, Bianca Colli, Stefano D’Anna.
- Croatian Collective Memory. The case of Drago Hedl, written and produced by: Renzo Bresciani.
- Freedom of speech in Serbia. The case of Marko Vidojković, written and produced by: Elina Kabanova, Matilde Lencioni, Alessia Pellicanó.
The Laboratory was funded by the University of Padova, within the project Sviluppare comunità di apprendimento: un percorso continuo, organized by the SPGI Department as part of the Progetto di Miglioramento della Didattica 2024.
