Seminar | Technology and the Rise of Signals Intelligence

On 8 May 2026, the Department of Political Science, Law and International Studies will host a Guest Lecture titled Technology and the Rise of Signals Intelligence.
The event will take place from 14:30 to 16:00 in Aula Me, at the Polo Didattico Gradenigo.
The lecture will be delivered by Prof. Peter Jackson, Chair in Global Security (History) at the University of Glasgow and the first Executive Director of the Scottish Council on Global Affairs (SCGA). A leading expert in international history, intelligence, and security studies, Professor Jackson is currently also serving as Visiting Professor at SPGI within the Master’s Degree Programme in International Relations and Diplomacy.
The event is part of the course Microelectronics and Geopolitics (A.A. 2025–26), coordinated by Profs. Alessandro Paccagnella and David Burigana.
It will explore the intersection between technological innovation and the evolution of signals intelligence, shedding light on its strategic implications in contemporary global affairs.
Students, researchers, and all those interested in security studies and geopolitics are warmly invited to attend.
